Defined Charge controllers regulate the flow of power from your solar array to your batteries. For example, if your batteries are low, the charge controllers allows maximum power to flow from the solar panels to the batteries. If your batteries are fully charged, the charge controller only allows a "trickle" charge to keep your batteries topped off. The charge controller/regulator is an important part of your system. Without it, the possibility exists that you could overcharge your battery bank and ruin your batteries.
